Zrće Festivals 2027: What to Know, Where to Stay

Every summer, a few kilometres outside Novalja, a strip of pebble beach turns into one of Europe’s best-known festival grounds. If you’re already thinking about Zrće festivals in 2027, the smart move is to plan the sleeping and travelling now, because the best rooms near the action tend to go first. Here’s how the festival season works, which events to look at, and how to avoid the classic mistakes.

A quick word on dates: always check the organisers

Zrće’s festivals are run by separate promoters, each with their own website, ticket tiers and accommodation packages. Several of them already show a 2027 edition on their own sites, but at the time of writing we are only quoting dates that the organisers themselves have confirmed, and we haven’t been able to verify exact 2027 dates for every event. So you’ll see “dates TBC” below rather than guesses. Third-party ticket resellers and listing sites sometimes post dates early or wrongly, so go to the festival’s own page before you book flights.

The main festivals to watch

Hideout Festival – the long-running electronic music festival that mixes Zrće club nights with daytime boat parties and beach stages. Its 2027 site is live, with partner hotels listed. Exact dates: check hideoutfestival.com.

Dropzone – a week of techno, house and drum & bass over several venues. Dates: TBC, see dropzonefest.com.

Verknipt Croatia – the Dutch hard-dance and techno crowd’s Croatian edition. Dates: TBC, see verknipt.org.

Balkan Wave – a younger, pop-and-party-leaning week with hotel packages. The 2027 page is up; check balkanwave.org for dates.

Austria goes Zrće – the German-language festival week popular with Austrian and German groups, sold mostly as ticket-plus-hotel packages. See austriagoeszrce.at.

Beyond the big names, the individual clubs run their own line-ups through the season. At the time of writing the clubs on the beach are Papaya, Aquarius, Kalypso, LIFT and Nomad. For the full calendar as it fills up, see our Novalja events page.

Where to stay for a festival week

You have three realistic choices. Festival packages (hotel plus ticket) are the simplest: Hideout, Austria goes Zrće and others sell rooms in partner hotels, and the pitch is that everything is arranged and the shuttle runs to the beach. The second option is a private apartment in Novalja town, which is cheaper per head for groups, gives you a kitchen and a quieter place to sleep, and keeps you close to restaurants. The third is a hotel or apartment right by Zrće, which is handy at 5 a.m. but louder and usually pricier. Browse the options on our where to sleep page and read our neighbourhood guide to pick the right area.

Book early: festival weeks are the busiest of the year, and many places set minimum stays. Always read the cancellation terms, especially on package deals.

Getting there

Zrće sits a short drive from Novalja town, linked by road, taxi and, in season, local transport. Most festival visitors arrive via Zadar airport or by road and the Pag bridge or the Prizna–Žigljen ferry. Our guide to getting to Novalja covers every route.

Good to know

When will 2027 dates be confirmed? Each organiser announces on its own timetable, and many already have 2027 pages. Check the festival websites directly.

Where should I buy tickets? From the festival’s own site or its named partners, to avoid fakes and inflated resale prices.

Is it only for 18–25s? The crowd skews young, but plenty of people come for daytime beach life and stay in town. Read our Zrće beach guide for the practical side.

Can I just turn up? You can for club nights, but festival weeks sell out of beds and sometimes tickets, so don’t leave it late.
